It was more than clear to me that what happened today was completely orchestrated. Even yesterday’s swift reaction of the European Commission proved insufficient to affect the parliamentary status quo. The procedure by which the new inspectors were elected lacked objectivity and transparency. I am extremely disappointed by the deficit of democracy in the Bulgarian parliament. Sufficient time is needed for the candidates’ backgrounds to be researched in detail, questions on the merits should be asked, unlike going through the motions that was demonstrated last week in the Legal Committee.,commented Ms Wegertseder.
