The National Assembly Passed the Procedural Rules for the Election of Inspector General of ISJC and Member of the Constitutional Court

Today, at its regular plenary session, with one MP voting against during the adoption of the Rules for Election of Inspector General of the Inspectorate at the Supreme Judicial Counsеl and with unanimity during the adoption of the Rules for Election of Constitutional Court’s member, the National Assembly approved the set of documents for the elections’ proceedings. The drafts of the Rules were introduced by Todor Dimitrov and Dimityr Lazarov. Only Yanaki Stoilov joined the discussion, appealing to the MPs to pay attention even at the stage of nomination of candidates, so indeed to elect magistrates on a merit base and not those who would just attain the necessary majority.

 

The procedure for Inspector General of the ISJC as well as for a member of the Constitution Court will go according to the following chornology:

Nomination of candidates: from 01/02/2013 to 11/02/2013;
Publication of documents: up to 3 working day after receipt;
Lodgement of NGO’s statements: 25/02/2013;
Public hearings of the candidates at an open sitting of the Legal Affairs Committee: 27/02/2013;
Election of the candidates by the MPs: 06/03/2013.
