BILI is Nominated for the Golden Key Award for a Second Time

Attorney Alexandur Kashumov nominated BILI for the Golden Key Award 2013. He motivates the nomination with the continuous efforts of BILI to seek information through the procedures described in the Access to Public Information Act (APIA). BILI used APIA in a relation with two signature cases, widely discussed in the media: the request to the Ministry of Interior if the current Prosecutor General was awarded with a firearm as a President of Regional Court Plovdiv; and the complaint filed in the Supreme Administrative Court regarding the “hidden” conflict of interest declarations, previously published on the official website of the Supreme Judicial Council. The complaint was signed by 3 NGOs – BILI, NGO Center Razgrad and Access to Information Programme.

Access to Information Programme marks the International Right to Know Day by holding an annual Awards Ceremony in Bulgaria since 2003. They present the Golden Key Award to citizens, journalists and NGOs, who have activelu exercised their right of access to information. Institutions, that have most efficiently organized the provision of access to information to the public, are also awarded. The decision to celebrate and promote 28 September as the International Right to Know Day was taken on the last day of a Freedom of Information litigation conference held 26-28 September 2002 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
