“Тhe Supreme Judicial Council is recognizing all democratic achievements -freedom, independence, legality, as well as the freedom of speech. The new members of the Supreme Judicial Council took their oath 120 days ago, and the Council itself was established in the conditions of publicity and transparency.”, stated the Council in its official statement with which the supreme administrative body of the judiciary is responding to the NGO report “Summary setting out an appraisal of the state-of-play of judicial reform and the necessary further steps to be taken”. The report was sent to PACE and the European Commission.
The Council says that the total negation is non-structural and misleading both for the European Commission and the Bulgarian society. However, the Council says that the institution has a clear intention for interaction and dialogue with the NGO sector, but is also disappointed because the document was not introduced to the attention of the Supreme Judicial Council.
