legalworld.bg: Conformism and silence are the primary objectives of the attacks against the Court

The public statements of the Minister of Interior Mr. Tsvetan Tsvetanov and the behavior of the members of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) seem to imply to judges that conformism and silence are the only path to successful career development.

This opinion was expressed in an open letter signed by eight non-governmental organizations and addressed to Mr. Boyko Borisov, the Bulgarian Prime minister, Mrs. Diana Kovacheva, the Minister of Justice, the members of the SJC and the media. The exact reason for their reaction was the attacks against Mrs. Miroslava Todorova, the Chair of the Bulgarian Judges Association by Mr. Tsvetanov, who directly accused her of serving organized crime. The letter defines these accusations as another series of severe manipulations of the truth which are due to the intentions of the Association to change the status quo in the judiciary.
