BILI appeals on transparency in the elections of a judge at the Constitutional court

Yesterday, on September 20th 2012, the Bulgarian institute for legal initiatives filed a Letter to the upcoming joint Assembly of the Supreme administrative and the Supreme court of cassation (SAC and SCC) for election of a judge at the Constitutional court of Bulgaria.
BILI appeals for the adoption of clear rules that will guarantee competition, motivation and transparency of the elections. So far the nominations were raised in a single joint assembly of the two supreme courts and the procedure couldn’t provide for announcement of the candidatures in advance, or any guarantees for fair competition and publicity.
The Letter was addressed to the Presidents of SAC and SCC with an appeal to present it during the Assembly’s session on 24th September 2012.
