In an interview with Silvia Velikova Bilyana Guayrova-Wegertseder commented the upcoming election of Director of the National Investigative Services (NIS). The former director Boyko Naydenov resigned earlier in November. He was elected last year by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC). Back then, his only competitor was prosecutor Evgeni Dikov. Currently, he is the only one nominated to take the office. He was proposed by the Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov and the members of the SJC Rumen Georgiev, Rumen Boev, Galina Karagyozova and Julia Kovacheva during the session held on November 21.
Evgeni Dikov already has a profile published on the TJAI website judicialprofiles.bg, which was completed in 2012. In a relation with this election procedure the profile only will be updated with new information: We will observe this procedure with high interest especially after in 2012 the SJC drafted new rules for election regarding this particular procedure. According to these rules, the Minister of Justice could also propose a nomination. If Dikov remains the only candidate, that will again show that the SJC took its decision in advance, before the actual decision of the Council.
Bilyana also commented on the upcoming revision of NIS that was disposed by the Prosecutor General. It is scheduled to finish until December 6: I am troubled by the fact that the revision shall be completed in such short terms.
